duck or swan

everyone is all too familiar with the ugly ducking tale. how the ugly ducking is osteracised because it looks ugly. how even the animal kingdom is hang up about appearance. but the last laugh goes to the ugly ducking, which transformed into a beautiful swan. yes everyone wants to look good and be admired in some ways. or in some ways hope that you can look better.

but humans dun transform into another more beautiful being. if you are born this way, you will look this way. for us, it's not a case of mistaken identity that can fulfill the hope of becoming more beautiful. it's going under the knife. you can change what you are born with. and in fact one need not undergo such a drastic measure to look beautiful. little grooming, make-up, beautiful clothes, you can be a swam for a night anytime. so you are still the ducking, but just made to look like a swan.

just got catch up with the latest buzz about a girl who looks like she's straight from heaven or hell, but apparently she will not be where she is now without the visit to the aesthetic surgeon. well nothing wrong with wanting to look pretty, and man did she get more than that. but it makes me think with the growing affluence and the societal pressure from a lookist society, will every ducking come out looking like swans?

you cant blame anyone from wanting to look more like the people around them. to be part of the pack. so if everyone starts looking beautiful, you'll want to too. especially when you know that they were like you too.

so it's a world of pseudo-swans then. well it's ok to use a few swan feathers and tricks to beautify yourself but trying to grow a long neck for it is another matter altogether. it's knowing the extent of the desire to be someone or something else.

yes i admit i can be a swan-wannabe too. how i glance at fashion magazines admiring the swans. but i too want to be an owl-wannabe. wanting those wisdom. a cheetah-wannabe too. we are all wannabes in one way or another.

if you think that you're the most perfect being on earth.

good for you and good luck to you.

advance booking please?

while i like spontaneity and i am guilty of last min rush, i get rather peeved when someone does last min thing with me, like watching a movie. especially when it's the premiere of harry porter. hey, everybody knows it's hot. and if you have the intention of watching, then book in advance. and also book me in advance. i do not reserve my time for anyone unless you state your intention to spend it with me. first come first serve. take your slots early. not that i'm hot property but it's only right that you ask a person whether he/she is free on this date you intend to see him. it's a sincere gesture to me, last min arrangements always seemed to me a convenient decision you have just made. of coz unless it's an emergency of anyone who needs a listening ear, that will always take first priority for me.

in fact someone else who has the initiative to book the tickets in advance asked me first. he makes sure he lets his intention known and let me check my schedule and he already has the tickets. good seats i bet. that's the thing i hate about making last min decision on movies. simple logic: the early bird gets the worm. i have no wish to be up close and personal with the stars in the movie and feel like a dwarf tilting my head at a position that leaves me with a trobbling headache afterwards. that's one of those situations when you do not want to be the front of the pack.

yes while i enjoy the joy of meeting someone i know on the street and catching up, or having surprise visits or call to meet up, i dislike it to come from you over and over again. ask me what i'm doing tonight. then state your intentions. i realised that's mostly coming from the guys. yeah i know, you want to make it seem casual, to lessen the jibe of rejection but if you are really sincere, make an appointment with me. book my time. i'm happy to give my time to people who make an effort to make plans. oh yeah, and a greater evil about this is when some people do not have the courtesy to reply me when i said i've some other plans. it's a personal preference, i know people who does not see the point of sending short 'ok' messages. i just find it plain rude.

so the point is?

surprises are good once in a while, but the limit comes when it ventures into taking me for granted.

dechire

a happiness stolen
a glow forbidden
same side of the moon
but shadows separate us

~
I am a vision
I am justice
Never thought that I could love
Living in shadows
Fading existance
It was never good enough
Within the darkness
You are the light that shines the way
But you're trapped in violence
I can be the man who saves the day

I'm there for you
No matter what
I'm there for you
Never giving up
I'm there for you
For You

Someone's changed me
Something's saved me
And this is who I am
Although I was blinded
My heart let me find out
That truth makes a better man
I didn't notice
That you were right in front of me
Our masks of silence
We'll put away so we can see

I'm there for you
No matter what
I'm there for you
Never giving up
I'm there for you
For You

Within the darkness
You are the light that shines a way
In this blind justice
I can be that man who saves the day

I'm there for you
No matter whatI'm there for you
Never giving up
Cause you know it's true
You were there for me
And I'm there for you
For you
For you
For you
~

For You by The Calling.

Thank you.

how you see it to be, not what it is really

i'm talking about having different perpectives. most often than not, the way we see the world is tainted by our own values and personality. the world is never the same for any two persons.

which explains why i now have tingles under my skin from my excitement of the future... i'm feeling good, confident and excited. nothing much has changed, except for my perspective and outlook on life now. it's brighter now. and hope it remains so.
